8. Kedarnath

Kedarnath Dham attracts pilgrims with its Kedarnath temple, which has been dedicated to Lord Shiva —the principal deity among the Hindus. It is said to have been constructed by great epical heroes, the Pandava brothers of Mahabharatha.

9. Badrinath




Badrinath is a revered Hindu pilgrimage destination located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, India. Situated in the Garhwal region of the Himalayas, this sacred town is part of the Char Dham Yatra, which includes Kedarnath, Yamunotri, and Gangotri. 


Spiritual Significance: Badrinath is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, specifically in his form as Lord Badrinarayan. It is believed to be one of the holiest shrines in Hinduism and holds immense spiritual significance.


Temple: The main attraction in Badrinath is the Badrinath Temple, a stunning stone structure nestled amidst the snow-capped mountains. It is one of the 108 Divya Desams (holy abodes of Lord Vishnu) and is known for its unique architecture and intricate artwork.


Opening and Closing Dates: The temple is open to devotees only for a specific period each year, generally from late April or early May to November. The closing ceremony, known as "Badrinath Kapat Closing," is a significant event in the region.

10. Hemkund Sahib




It’s a famous Sikh pilgrim centre situated at an altitude of 4632mts and surrounded by seven snowcapped peaks of the Himalayas called Satopanth, and near the confluence of river 

Pushpawati (Lakh River is a special and revered spot for Sikhs and has plenty of beautiful nature and the deepest spirituality within it. Here are some key points about Hemkund Sahib:

It is tucked in the Garhwal Himalayas at a height of almost 4,632 m (15,197 ft) above sea level. There are spectacular snowy mountains in every direction and this gorgeous glossy glacial lake.

This Gurudwara is linked to Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Guru of Sikhism, who allegedly prayed here at the start of the 18th Century. For Sikhs, it’s an important site of spiritual value called “Lake of Snow”.

On the difficult trek up rugged hills to Hemkund Sahib. It is a 19km (12 miles) trek from the starting point of Govindghat for all pilgrimage tourists. The journey is an examination of one’s physical stamina and commitment.

11. Gangotri




Gangotri is located in the Northern part of India, in Uttarakhand, and belongs to Uttarkashi District. It is situated in the Garhwal Himalayan belt and stands around 3,100 mts (10,200 ft) above sea level.

Gangotri is very important for the Hindu religion. This is considered to be the location where the river Ganges came down to the earth from the coils of lord Shiva also known as Gangadhara(Bearer of Ganges). 

Millions of pilgrims visit Gangotri to take Bath in Bhagirathi River Water, known as the Ganges at its source, to free themselves from the evil deeds they committed.

The principal house of worship here is the Gangotri Temple. This palace was constructed in the eighteenth century and renovated by the Maharaja of Jaipur after being constructed by Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa. 

Dedicated to Goddess Ganga, the temple has its annual public opening only one day in a year, on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.


12. Yamunotri





This beautiful mountain is located around 3293 meters (10804 ft) above sea level and marks the origin of one of the mighty rivers of our country.

Yamunotri is an important pilgrimage site for the Hindus. It is temple is devoted to the Goddess (Yamuna) known as Yamula or Dukh-Darja She (Yamana) in Hindu mythology was the sister of Lord Yama (God of death). 

It is believed that if someone takes a bath in the cold water of Yamuna at its source, all their sins will be washed away and they shall attain salvation.

Yamunotri Temple: All this leads to the Yamunotri Temple- the lovely 19th-century temple that marks the headway of our journey toward the temple town of Rishikesh. 

This wooden structure is located near the hot water spring called Surya Kund. Due to inhospitable weather conditions, the temple opens only to pilgrims seasonally.

13. Binsar (Almora)




Binsar — a popular tourist spot and wildlife sanctuary, situated some 34 kilometers from Almora in the Almora district of Uttarakhand — is famous for its stunning natural landscape and abundant flora and fauna. Here are some key highlights about Binsar Almora:

Known for stunning sunrise and sunset scenes as well as splendid 360-degree viewpoints overlooking the Himalayan giants like Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Panchachuli, Binsar is also a hub for birdwatch Nature enthusiasts are in for a treat as the area enjoys dense forests.

The sanctuary’s vegetation is quite diverse including oak, rhododendron, and pine tree species. It's perfect for people inclined towards Himalayan Flora.
