In the scenic Himalayan foothills lies the small city of Haldwani in Uttarakhand state of India. Beautiful, and rich in culture and history, Haldwani is a mix of old and new ways of life.

You will see numerous charming corners of this lively place during your walk along its busy streets and quiet rural areas. Haldwani is endowed with numerous attractions which make it one of my favorite holiday destinations.

1. Kathgodam: The Gateway to Haldwani



Kathgodam is an adorable town situated in the region of Nainital of Uttarakhand, India. It is located at a critical junction and is the first entry to Haldwani for the tourist. The town’s railway station links different regions and is a very famous landmark.

Nevertheless, Kathgodam is considered as a transit only; yet it has its own allure. There are always markets that are very busy with local life. These markets let you see what that is like of the vibrant local culture and may even find traditional handicrafts, local produce, and street food. 

Finally, interacting with the friendly locals gives you one last touch of uniqueness in your expedition.

This is a special name in the Sanskrit language and it indicates that there are nine corners or parikrama paths of this lake.

Naukuchiata is situated amidst thick forestry and beautiful scenery. The picturesque lake has clean waters suitable for boating to enjoy the panoramic views of the neighboring cliffs. 

Green environs and away from the hustles and bustles make Naukuchiatal an ideal retreat spot.


6. Bhimtal Lake: 



Beneath Haldwani, there lies Bhimtal Lake which is bigger than the first one. Bhimtal, unlike its more crowded counterparts, is characterized by peacefulness and calmness lying among numerous rich green trees in various types of forestry. 

This lake has numerous adventure activities such as canoeing or bird-watching allowing visitors to enjoy outdoor fun and reconnect with nature. 

Visiting an islet in the middle of the lake is a thrill added to the trip. The calmness of Bhimtal Lake with an additional chance to walk around its shores is the very reason why many choose to rest here away from everything.

13. Amritpur: 



Another hidden place near Haldwani that one can go to for the solace of a tired spirit is Amritpur. This tranquil village has within its bounds the sacred Amriteshwar Mahadev Temple which draws pilgrims and believers from all over.

The temple is for lord Shiva within a jungle atmosphere. It stimulates meditative thoughts. Getting to the shrine is a trip on its own, walking up and down meandering paths, amidst blazing flowers and tall trees.
